People who face barriers to returning to work or finding work due to health-related issues can benefit from a new free and confidential support service launched across Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

WorkWell is a new programme designed to provide early intervention and tailored support for people to help get them back on track.

The Programme is funded by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and delivered locally by NHS Herefordshire and Worcestershire.

The programme offers expert assessments to identify challenges affecting work and wellbeing and a personalised action plan to help people overcome any barriers to getting into or back to work. Through the WorkWell programme, people can access local clinical and non-clinical support, such as mental health services, physiotherapy, and even financial advice.

In addition, WorkWell offers practical support for employers including guidance o reasonable adjustments and workplace wellbeing strategies.

Judy Gibbs, Joint programme director across the two counties said: “We have recruited 15 Work and Health Coaches across Herefordshire and Worcestershire to help individuals stay in work, return to work, and manage their health effectively.

It’s a great programme and we encourage anyone with work related health issues to refer themselves to the programme. Our coaches can help get them back on track.”

Maira Ioannou, Work and Health coach for Worcester City PCN said: “The WorkWell Progamme is ideal for people who want to start, stay or get back into work, but are finding that their health can sometimes be a barrier in doing so.”

Nicki Lloyd, Work and Health coach for Herefordshire said: “We can offer many different types of support to get you started and help build confidence, even if you’ve been out of work for a longer period.”

People can refer themselves directly into WorkWell but equally, people can be referred by their GP, Jobcentre Plus, and their employers.
