SENDIASS guidance for young people

  • SENDIASS guidance provides in depth information about SENDIASS Young Person Advisors and guidance for career options, adulthood, money, mentoring, helpful resources and mental health. You may want to talk things through with someone who can offer impartial information and advice about the different services. SENDIASS (Special Educational Needs & Disability Information, Advice and Support Service) is a free service for families with a child or young person with SEND. This service is free, accessible, confidential, impartial and provided at arm’s length from the Local Authority.

SENDIASS Young Person Advisor

  • Herefordshire and Worcestershire SENDIASS support children and young people that have or may have Special Educational Needs/Disabilities (SEND) to make informed decisions.  They also have Young Persons Advisors (YPA) who can help you on your own or with your family. Their advice and support is:
    • free, it does not cost you anything
    • confidential, this means that we will not share your information with others without getting your permission
    • impartial, this means that we will not tell you what to do. We will not take sides. We will give you the information and support that you need to make your own choices.
  • The Herefordshire Young Person Advisor, joins the Herefordshire Youth Employment Hub on the last two Tuesdays of every month. She is available to meet with young people with SEND to offer careers guidance and impartial information, advice and support on all matters relating to SEND.
  • You can book an appointment by completing the Youth Employment Hub referral form on their webpage or by contacting us directly on 01432 260955 or emailing SENDIASS@herefordshire.gov.uk
